Yoga around birthing time

Prenatal Yoga

A consistent yoga practice supports the mental preparation needed to have a peaceful, comfortable birth. It has the added benefit of preparing the body for what it is made to do in a normal physiological birth. I have practiced yoga my whole adult life, including in preparation for the birth of my own child. All pregnant people are welcome to join my prenatal yoga classes at The Yoga Studio. My prenatal yoga classes are geared toward new yogis in their 2nd or 3rd trimesters, and I cue deeper poses for experienced yogis and those in their 1st trimester. Each class includes about 45 minutes of a soothing practice, followed by a 10-15-minute guided meditation that allows your practice to settle into your mind and body, as you connect with your baby. For my Hypnobabies clients, who are interested in prenatal yoga, I am happy to arrange for you to receive for free 3 prenatal yoga classes led by me at The Yoga Studio.

Postpartum Yoga

Yoga is a perfect way to approach healing after birth. It can gently restore pelvic floor tone, facilitate desired weight loss, and help regulate emotions during a time when hormone cycles are returning to a nonpregnancy state and when you might not be getting as much sleep as you desire. Personally, my yoga practice kept me grounded during a period of postpartum depression resulting from a difficult cesarean recovery. I am happy to provide one-on-one postpartum yoga sessions; please complete the Contact form to express interest.
